Our client currently has a job available for a part-time gardener responsible for maintaining high standards in a garden environment. Reporting to the Head Gardener and working 2 /3 days per week. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Soil cultivation, digging, mulching, watering, raking, weeding, edging, pruning, seed sowing, bed preparation and planting. The use and maintenance of hand tools and basic light machinery. Pruning wall shrubs and climbers. Maintenance of shrub borders including pruning and weeding. Maintenance of herbaceous borders including weeding, staking, pruning and replanting as required and mulching. Planting up summer and winter bedding features. Maintenance of summer and winter bedding- deadheading, feeding and watering. Planting and lifting of seasonal bulbs. Care and maintenance of rose beds - deadheading, pruning, weeding, and feeding. Propagation of plants from seed and cuttings in potting shed. Production of salad crops and vegetables as required in vegetable garden. Operation of small backpack blower to keep areas clean. Assisting the grounds department on other projects as required. Reporting any issues to the Head Gardener. Skills - A Fetac Level 5 or higher in horticulture would be an advantage, however relevant experience in working in an Estate or parkland gardens with high levels of manicuring essential. Ability to identify plant disease / pests. You will have a willingness to learn new skills and undertake and necessary training. You will be Trustworthy and reliable with Excellent attention to detail. You will take direction and works within agreed procedures. You will be Self-motivated and focused, able to work well in a team. With an enthusiasm for gardening.
